Hi, I was there in late May on Hollow Fall road when a black bear mom and two little cub came out to play. One of the cubs stayed in the tree most of the time and the other sometimes left the tree for a stump near by. Maybe it was the same day. My Cannon 5D Mark II had a shutter malfunction so I used my back up Rebel with my 500mm Sigma lens. I got some good pictures but I like your better. http://www.PhillipsFarmPhotography.com
Awesome! We saw the cubs (two sets)with their mothers in the same area, the first week of June while on vacation. WE were a party of ten
in two vehicles that got separated and the other part of the family got exellent pictures of a grizzly crossing the road up close to Washburn. Appeared to be a male and had a collar on. Right place, right time!! Even the phone pictures were good. They also got some good shots of a pair of wolves. We got some memory pictures for the vacation album of the black bear families but nothing as close up asyours as we were equippped with our regular Nikon cameras. We came home and bought a new camera and now we are researching spotter scopes. As we found out while there, the grizzly mamas are up on the slopes in the meadows near the snow line with their cubs. No way you can see them from the road with the naked eye. You wouldn’t even know they were there. A nice gentlman let us look at a mother g.sow with her cub through his spotter scope. I missed a moose picture by a few seconds. He came out of the woods right where a pair of geese with their goslings were at the water’s edge and she flogged him back into the woods.(Don’t mess with a mama) We got many pictures of several different species but we are comming back next year prepared!! Several people have told us they have been to YS and never saw any kind of bear. GO early in the year, miss the crowds and see the animals. CB in TX
on June 27th had our first sight of a large brown bear near the west gate,a few days later up near Larmar valley a black bear and one cub.
I was there with my family in may .saw my first brown bear after my third visit ,I was ore struck made my holiday going to alaska next year.
You’re not kidding, “right place, right time”. I was in YS with my family three days in mid June. We put over 250 miles on our car and NEVER saw a bear or a wolf, just LOTS of bison. You all are darn lucky!
