Traveling to Yellowstone

Wyoming Roads at Night

Driving to Yellowstone is just as much fun as getting there! With our Yellowstone Park map and itinerary collection, you can choose from 10 different routes that make the trip almost as exciting as the adventures you’ll have when you arrive.

Other options are to fly, then drive or tour. Or you can check out group bus transportation.

Top Three Road Trips to Yellowstone

1. Denver to Yellowstone

Denver, Colorado has an international airport and is a favorite starting point for a Wild West vacation. We feature two itineraries. One through Laramie, Wyoming (578 miles) and one through Cody, Wyoming (570 miles).

2. Salt Lake City to Yellowstone

For a city and country vacation, we recommend starting in Salt Lake City, Utah. You can enjoy the culture and attractions that a large city offers before traveling on for the old western vacation. Again we show you two routes. The Idaho route (358 miles) takes you to Yellowstone’s west entrance. The Jackson Hole route (441 miles) takes you to the south entrance.

3. South Dakota to Yellowstone

South Dakota and Eastern Wyoming offer many historical and active vacation stops. One map itinerary starts you in South Dakota’s Badlands (532-605 miles). Another starts at the Black Hills (481 miles). Both choices start near Mt. Rushmore, but the Badlands itinerary gives you a few more choices and a different return trip.
