Is Yellowstone Open? Flood Updates
Get updated information about the June 2022 flood plus road conditions in Yellowstone and the local communities
Yellowstone’s southern loop and three entrances are open with a restricted park entry system based on odd/even days and license plate numbers.
Open entrances include the West Entrance at West Yellowstone, the South Entrance near Jackson/Grand Teton National Park, and the East Entrance near Cody. The north and northeast entrances of the park are expected to be closed for an extended period of time, however, the northern loop inside Yellowstone will reopen in a couple of weeks (early July). At that time, 80% of the park will be open to the public. For a complete list of facilities open in the park such as campgrounds, hotels and visitor centers, visit www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/hours.htm.

Temporarily, Yellowstone is implementing an Alternating License Plate System (ALPS) for entry into the park. Based on the last number on your vehicle’s license plate, you will be admitted on odd or even days. Exceptions include having hotel/campground reservations or entering with a commercial tour. Learn more about ALPS entry atĀ www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/flood-recovery.htm. View the Post-Flood Re-opening Flyer PDF.

Yellowstone’s neighbor to the south, Grand Teton National Park, is open and operating as normal, except for low water levels in Jackson Lake.
