April 17, 2015: Yellowstone road access is now open (shown in yellow) from the North Entrance (Gardiner, Montana) and the West Entrance (West Yellowstone) to Old Faithful, Mammoth, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

On May 1st, the roads from the Canyon to the Lake and East Entrance (Cody, Wyoming) are scheduled to open (shown in orange).

On May 8th, the roads from the Lake to South Entrance, and the road from Tower Junction (Roosevelt) to Tower Fall is scheduled to open (shown in bright green).

Yellowstone Grand Loop Road Construction

Yellowstone's Grand Loop Road will have some construction on roads and bridges the summers 2014-2016. The bulk of the construction will be the 16-mile section of the loop between Norris Geyser Basin and the Golden Gate area south of Mammoth Hot Springs.

Yellowstone Roads - Are They Melting?

Firehole Lake Drive, a side road to the Grand Loop Road, was closed for a few days due to the asphalt "melting." A 16-mile portion of the Grand Loop is also being repaired and plans are to move the road.
