Yellowstone Wolf 06 Remembered. Photos by Dave Shumway

Wolf 832AF (AKA "06" - for the year she was born) was the Alpha Female of the Lamar Canyon Pack killed on Dec 6, 2012 as part of Wyoming's wolf hunt.

I can’t begin to tell you how many requests I have had to put together a gallery of my shots of “06” from the years, so here it is.

Wolf 832AF (AKA “06” – for the year she was born) was the Alpha Female of the Lamar Canyon Pack. On December 6, 2012 she was legally killed (harvested) about 16 miles outside of Yellowstone National Park as part of Wyoming’s wolf hunt.

She was a beautiful wolf who provided me with numerous photographic encounters, this gallery contains three of those. A majority of my time spent with this dynamic wolf was as her lone photographer; I seemed to be able to place myself in the right place at the right time for her to pose for a few photographs (some call it luck).

Following the death of this alpha wolf, and seven other wolves, Montana officials implemented a temporary hunting ban in areas surrounding Yellowstone National Park.

I have a gallery full of her photos online.

Here are a few of the highlights:
