Utah Stops on the Way

Utah’s Amusement Capital at Great Salt Lake

Family fun awaits in Davis County

Just north of Salt Lake City, towns like Bountiful, Farmington and Layton are the perfect place to play in the beautiful state of Utah.

Start at Antelope Island State Park, which is on the Great Salt Lake. Home to bison, pronghorn and countless bird species, it’s a wildlife watcher’s paradise. As a designated Dark Sky Park, animals won’t be the only thing you’ll want to watch. The Milky Way arching over the lake will leave you in awe. Stop by The Bird in Syracuse on your way in and get a fried chicken picnic to enjoy at the park.

Your weekend isn’t complete without a stop at Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington, the largest family owned amusement park in the country. Cool off in the waterpark, ride roller coasters and get an old-fashioned picture taken in Pioneer Village.

If you’re still craving more fun, there are five other amusement centers in Davis County. Can’t miss stops include The Rush Funplex, where you can go kart and SeaQuest, Utah’s only interactive aquarium, where you can see a sloth, feed a shark and swim with stingrays.

Be sure to stop by Bountiful Town Square in either the summer or the winter months to enjoy their new roller and ice ribbon. Skate year-round on this unique attraction.

At the end of the day head to Station Park in Farmington, an outdoor dining and shopping destination with a water feature designed by the same mastermind behind Las Vegas’s Bellagio Hotel & Casino fountain. When it’s time for dinner, don’t miss locally owned Santorini’s Greek Grill with build-your-own Greek dishes. Or, head to the brand new Niño Viejo, a tapas bar with offerings like ceviche and tacos alongside larger entrees.
