Yellowstone's Gibbon Falls

Located on the Gibbon River, the falls drop roughly 84 feet in a gradual descent.

If you’re driving between Norris Geyser Basin and Madison Junction, take a quick stop to spot Gibbon Falls. Located on the Gibbon River, the falls drop roughly 84 feet in a gradual descent. Park in the designated area near the top of the falls for a great view, but be ready to wait your turn for it, as the viewing area is often crowded. Follow the paved trail above the river to claim a view all your own. William Henry Jackson and John Merle Coulter of the second Hayden survey get credit for discovering Gibbon Falls in 1872.
