2-Day Itinerary in Grand Teton National Park
Only have two days? Here's what to do.
Get ready for a 2-day Grand Teton vacation of a lifetime. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Grand Teton National Park from amazing hiking trails to scenic boat rides and the best huckleberry milkshake ever.
DAY ONE
Breakfast in the Mural Dining Room

Start the day with breakfast at the Mural Dining Room in Jackson Lake Lodge for a delicious breakfast with unforgettable views. The floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows offer outstanding views of the Tetons.
Drive Teton Park Road

Spot wildlife and stop for a picnic on this 21-mile scenic drive in the park. It stretches from Moose to Jackson Lake Junction.
String Lake Loop

Hike this easy 3.8-mile loop around String Lake and see mountains reflected in the lake’s waters. Its shallow, warmer waters make it a good spot to take a dip or rent a kayak. Walk clockwise to mellow the elevation grade. Access it by heading northwest at the North Jenny Lake Junction and right at String Lake.
Get a Huckleberry Milkshake

Stop at the Pioneer Grill in the Jackson Lake Lodge for the best milkshake ever. After you take a sip, you’ll understand why bears seek out huckleberry bushes to feast.
DAY TWO
Jackson Lake Boat Cruise

Go on a scenic cruise on Jackson Lake where you’ll fuel up on great views. Being on Jackson Lake gives you a whole different perspective.
NOTE: Colter Bay Village Marina did not offering cruises in 2022 due to low water levels. Check ahead of time with Grand Teton Lodge Co. for details on whether cruises will be offered in summer 2023.
Visit Mormon Row

Founded in the 1890s by Mormon settlers from Idaho, this community was once home to 27 homesteads. Today you can see T.A. Moulton’s famous barn that appears in many photos of the Tetons. Drive north from Jackson on highway 191 past Moose Junction and turn right onto Antelope Flats Road and drive for about 1.5 miles. A trail brochure and interpretive sign can be found at the parking lot.
Hike to Taggart Lake

This beautiful 3-mile round-trip trail cuts through sagebrush flats and forests before rolling into Taggart Lake. You’ll gain 350 feet of elevation on this trail rated “easy.” From the lake, you’ll have great views of the awe-inspiring, 13,775-foot Grand Teton.
Blue Heron Lounge

Wind down after a 2-day Grand Teton vacation full of activities. Get a drink in the evening at the Blue Heron Lounge in Jackson Lake Lodge, named the best watering hole for humans in the park by the National Park Foundation.
