The roads leading to the Old Faithful geyser, Yellowstone Falls, and other popular Yellowstone destinations will be closed for the season to wheeled vehicles effective Nov. 7th at 8:00 a.m. for winter preparation.
Park staff will begin preparing main roads for the winter influx of guided snowmobile and snow coach travel starting Dec. 15th.
The only road to remain open to wheeled vehicles during the winter season will be from the North Entrance in Grandier, Mont. through Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction and Lamar Valley to the Northeast Entrance in Cook City, Montana.
While there are limited sections of roads remaining open, all roads operated by the National Park are subject to current weather conditions. Visitors are recommended to take caution in winter driving conditions and use mud or snow tires.
Current Yellowstone conditions are available 24 hours, seven days a week by calling 307-344-2117.
