Signal Mountain Lodge in Grand Teton National Park
Stay at the only resort located on the shores of Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park, with camping and boat rentals available.
When it opened in the 1920s, Signal Mountain Lodge aimed to attract well-to-do outdoorsmen to Grand Teton National Park. In fact, the first fishing guides were hired not only to guide guests on fishing outings but to build the log-hewn cabins and furniture. In the early days there was no indoor plumbing.
Today, Signal Mountain Lodge is a full-service establishment that serves guests from all over the world. It features a variety of accommodations from one-room rustic log cabins to two-story buildings with lodge-style rooms. Some rooms feature living rooms and kitchenettes while others are motel-style with a king bed and one pull-out bed in the couch. And yes, there is indoor plumbing, along with a number of modern amenities.

On the lakeside property are three different restaurants, making it easy to plan breakfast, lunch and dinner meals in the park. Trapper Grill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and features locally harvested food in its dishes like the Twelve Redbird Farms chicken wings. Peaks Restaurant serves western bistro-style food with a menu with an environmentally sustainable focus like locally harvested Ballard Farms Pork Chops and braised bison ragout. And Leek’s Pizzeria serves up pizza (and breadsticks topped with buffalo sauce) and lakeside views.
When you’re done eating, get outside. The lodge offers guided fishing and park tours. You also can rent boats on Jackson Lake or sign up for a scenic float trip down the Snake River.
An interesting historical fact about the lodge: For a period of time in the 1930s, homesteader Charles Wort, the first to get park approval to run a boat company in Grand Teton National Park, owned the property. His family sold Signal Mountain Lodge to realize their father’s dream of building a Jackson hotel. In 1941, the family opened The Wort Hotel in the Jackson downtown. The renowned hotel has become a Jackson landmark. Stop in and have a drink at the hotel’s legendary Silver Dollar Bar while you’re in town.
