Founded in 2010 by John and Courtney McKee, the distillery, in classic Butte fashion, is not only a premier distillery but a supplier of the cutting-edge technologies that make distilling the most exciting and unique expression of Americanism in the United States today.

Open to the public for tours and tasting at 21 South Montana St., Headframe Spirits is located in the true heart of Butte’s classic uptown district and literally over the Destroying Angel copper mine. Each of the spirits is named after an actual mine in the Butte district, and the list of titles tells graphic stories of life, death and struggle as the town dug miles underground to provide the essential copper ore that electrified America at the turn of the 20th century.

In the 21st century, Montana Gov. Steve Bullock named Headframe Spirits “Entrepreneurs and Ambassadors of the Year” in 2014 and 2015. Respectfully acknowledging the past, Headframe Spirits embraces its role as strong community contributor.
